Dear CES Parents & Volunteers,

I want to thank you for helping us to get the new school year off to such a great start! Our students are settling in to their routines and our instructional year is moving full speed ahead. I am writing to remind you of our morning and afternoon procedures as these are often the busiest times of day for our school. Your assistance with these routines will help us to maintain our high standard of safety at the school while meeting our students' needs and maximizing instructional time. To that end, I would like to remind everyone that when you visit our school, you will need to come into the office to sign in and get a visitor's pass. If you have items that need to go to your child's classroom, simply bring them to the office and we will get them to the classroom for you. Early morning visits to the classroom are discouraged as this is the time of day that the classroom teacher is taking a few moments to get all plans and materials in order for the day. If you need to get a message to the teacher or would like to schedule a conference, please come through the office to do so and we will certainly get your request to the classroom teacher. The best time for parent-teacher conferences is at the teacher's scheduled daily planning time. Wednesdays are set aside for school-wide team planning and professional learning so most teachers will not be available on this day at their planning times. Please contact your child's teacher to learn the best time for conferences.

Many of you volunteer at Charlotte Elementary School on a regular basis. We thank you for your time and want you to know we could not do it without you! Many of you are in the building throughout the day assisting in hundreds of ways. Please remember that all volunteers must sign in through the office, obtain a visitor's pass, and must sign and adhere to our Volunteer Agreement and confidentiality guidelines.

Afternoon dismissal is perhaps the busiest time of our school day. We want every child to get home safely and in a timely fashion. To do this, we need parents to let us know of any dismissal changes by sending in a note or by calling the school office no later than 2:00 on the day of the change. Additionally, we must ask our car rider parents to help us by keeping the main driveway and the lower parking lot of our school clear until 2:45. We must have a clear path to our school at all times in the event of an emergency. If your child needs to be checked out of school early for an appointment, please do so by 2:45 in order to avoid the dismissal rush. All early dismissals stop at 2:45 and anyone approaching after this time will be directed to return to their car and the car rider line. All of those in the car rider line must have a car rider tag in order to pick up their child. No tag, no child is our policy. If you do not have your tag, you will be required to park and come into the office to sign your child out. All parents and/or volunteers who happen to be in the building at dismissal time will be asked to wait until the 3:00 bell (until car rider dismissal has begun) before departing with their own children in order to avoid an early check out slip.
